Home Alone – Kevin, The Fashion Icon

I had a pretty chilled Sunday afternoon.  I watched Home Alone, burnt my new Yankee Candle and wrote all my Christmas cards with a cuppa and a mince pie.  Jubbly.  It was only after I got thinking how freaking cool the character Kevin is in Home Alone!  I mean, alone all by himself, no crazy family .. every kid’s dream come true to have free reign over the house!  Not just that though, his outfits.  That kid has style!  See what I mean?

Party Life: Fashion

So, I think I intended to tell you about Southampton night life, but I’m going to leave that for the Southampton specific post.  Here’s some of my party life fashion moments.   I don’t know HOW many times you have seen this outfit, but this is seriously how fantastically versatile it is!  Top from Topshop, Culottes from Urban Outfitters – bish bash bosh!  This is a pretty standard summer clubbing outfit for me.  Something that doesn’t show too much leg, but that doesn’t need tights and will show off my waist.  FYI this was taken in Jesters, which I’m sure you will hear more about in the Southampton post.   So you can only see half this outfit, but it’s still a goodun.  The statement necklace is from East and the top is actually a full on body corset that I needed for dance, from Florence and Fred.  The high waisted shorts are TK Maxx.  Every single outfit I wear clubbing is with flats.  I would love to be able to wear heels, but I just can’t.  How can I do the worm in heels eh?!  Ah, a heels shot!  However, I did only wear the heels for pre-drinking to get me in the mood, then it was straight into flats before heading out the door.  The boob tube and the heels are New Look and the high waisted shorts are River Island.  High waisted shorts are pretty much a clubbing staple for me.  They’re comfortable, suck in your tum and mean you can do the worm without flashing your panties.  Win.

A slightly more official looking photo.  This was for a Dinner Dance for my Performing Arts Society at Uni.  The dress was a fiver in TK Maxx, the heels (I sat down ALL night, hurrah!) are Schuh and the blazer was borrowed from my housemate.  Boyfriend wears .. Topman.

Karaoke buzz!  This was for a night out in Carlisle which was just great fun.  The top is TK Maxx and the high waisted shorts (seeing a pattern here?!) are Topshop.

So there’s a quick round up of Party Life fashion – stay tuned to hear more about Soton nightlife!

What Happened In May

So a couple of weeks ago I posted about what had happened in May so far, me thinking that a plethora of things would happen between then and now, but alas, I was wrong.  A heatwave happened.  And with heatwaves come BBQs, bikinis and beer.  Nothing to complain about mind you, just not much to blog about.  So here’s a snappy round up of the second half of may.

1)  BBQ Season!  Here’s a photo of me looking pretty unimpressed caught off guard with my king prawn skewers.  Absolutely delicious.  Chop up two or three cloves of garlic and melt up about a quarter of a tub of butter in a sauce pan then stir together and pour over king prawns in a bowl.  Make sure that all the prawns are coated in the garlic butter marinade and pop in the fridge for an hour.  Then stick them on some skewers and BBQ them for ten to fifteen minutes.  Perfect.  I’m wearing crop bandeau from New Look and maxi skirt from BooHoo.

2)  And exams have ended!  Which means plenty of wild nights out and about, including those where you carry chairs back at three in the morning.  Standard student fun.

3)  Sorry for being soppy, but I kind of love this picture of me and the boy.  I’m wearing a TK Maxx dress and his shirt is from Topman.  This weekend we’re celebrating our 18 month anniversary (all together now, awwwwwwwww) by road tripping to Newquay for surfing and the Diamond Jubilee.  Going to be lush!

4)  More cooking!  I don’t know what’s come over me.  Here is a homemade pizza that I  produced as procrastination one day.  From scratch!  We made the dough (with a pre mix pack but come on!), added mozzarella and pizza sauce, chorizo, salami and olives.  And did I mention the cheese string stuffed crust?!  Delicious.

5)  With procrastination, has come the arrival of a new card game; S***Head.  Don’t ask me why it’s called that, I really don’t know.  All I know is that it’s one of the most fun card games I have ever played and we play it pretty much all the time.  Google it.

6)  And this pic is just another garden shot.  Story of our freaking lives.

Student Life

Well as you all know, I am a student.  And I love it.  I love it so much I’m considering I’m considering being an eternal one, Masters, PHD .. the works!  Just so I can forever live in colorful outfits, always have purple hair, never wear work clothes and always eat pasta.  Well they’re not the only reasons.  I absolutely love Geography, I love it.  So yes.  But anyway, I thought I’d share with you some very common goings on of student life, in case you are a student, just to nod and smile, or in case you’re not, and aching to know what happens.

So this is a video … S*** University Students Say.  (As you know I’m a COMPLETE technophobe, so I don’t know if this will even come up but please please watch it!)  And it is basically my life.

This is the boyfriend, looking troubled at our monthly shop.  In this shop a few days ago we spent £168.12 which hurts, physically, mentally and spiritually hurts.  Now, I know that this is quite a standard amount for a family of four, say, to eat for a week or two but for us as students it cripples us having to part with so much money, even to stay alive.  Thankfully though, we will only be at Uni for another 6 weeks or so before being back with all paying parents … yay! (Boyfriend wears: Jumper and Gillet: Sissy Boy  Jeans: Topman  Trainers: Converse)

This is me.  With a chicken.  And what I wear around the house.  Yes, I look ridiculous but Uni is the only time you CAN look ridiculous, the only time it is completely acceptable.  Another reason I LOVE it.  (Glasses: Odeon 3D Glasses minus lenses   Hoodie: DKNY at TK Maxx   Shoes: Uggs   Chicken: Tesco)

Right, this is Instagram.  Instagram is a tool that average people use to make themselves look cool, and we us it alot.  And in this picture is Hannah, and a bottle of vodka, standard.  Pre drinking for us involves plenty of cards and forfeits before we go out, so, much, fun.  (Hannah wears: Primark)  Speaking of Pre Drinking:

Facebook is amazing.  Through it, we have a house group page where we post everything from cleaning rotas, bill money, rent money, payments, who left the massive poo in the toilet and of course, this.  And this.

Unbelievably, this is very standard.

So just a little insight into my life as a student, hope you enjoyed!
