My Current Perfume Collection

Happy Monday!  I’ve spent all weekend dancing my knickers off at our bi-annual street dance show, and am feeling absolutely exhausted.  I was so tired, that my lovely Mother bought me a beautiful perfume gift as a ‘Good Luck’ and ‘Well Done’ present before our final performance.  It’s prompted me to give you a mini tour of my current perfume collection I’m spritzing.

ImageLacoste – Touch of Pink

I have a very strong sense of smell, so scent and perfume have the ability to instantly take me back to a certain occasion or time in my life.  I wore Lacoste – Touch of Pink one very important summer, and every time I spritz I’m instantly taken back to some very happy memories, and it’s since then been a firm favourite of mine.  It’s amazing the power of perfume!  My main comment about this perfume is that it’s very long lasting, I spray onto my main pulse points and into my hair of a morning, and by 4pm people still comment on how nice I smell (or the perfume smells!).  Despite being long-lasting, it’s a very light scent.  The tones are very fresh and fruity and it isn’t too strong or pungent.  It’s a very summery scent, so it feels slightly odd wearing it in the winter, but definitely worth it when the sun comes out!

ImageJasper Conran – Woman

I got this set just before Christmas in a set with the bath and shower gel of the same fragrance.  Being a woman who NEVER saves good stuff for a special occasion (i.e. I use and wear nice, good quality and expensive things whenever I feel like it – life’s too short!) I used the shower gel straight away, and funnily enough, preferred it to the perfume of the same scent.  It’s a very strong smelling perfume, the kind that might give you a headache if you spray too much, with very masculine tones.  Boyfriend uses Calvin Klein – One and there are very similar notes involved.  A pro point is that it’s definitely a very autumnal perfume, meaning it’s perfect to see me through the next month or two.

ImageTed Baker Ldn – Eau de Toilette

Whilst this is a lovely, simple perfume full of citrusy undertones, I was unimpressed at how long it lasted, but I guess that’s in the name; ‘Eau de Toilette’.  I feel this perfume definitely matches the Ted Baker brand (more than the other perfumes), with it’s pink colour, edgy geometric bottle and slight floral scent.  Despite not being long lasting, at first spray its a very crisp and sharp perfume that smells lovely and isn’t too pungent.

ImageBurberry – Weekend

Last, but definitely not least is another long standing personal favourite of mine that I’ve been wearing for years now.  It’s a very high quality perfume, and feels very urban and edgy when you spray it, like you can rule London (well, that’s how I feel!).  There are vanilla and cinnamon tones in this scent, which means it can be worn guilt free summer or winter and will compliment any environment.  Being high quality, it is very long lasting and a firm favourite in the perfume stakes.

What perfume are you spraying this season?

Cyprus Swimwear

Hello from Cyprus!  I do hope the weather is as glorious wherever you are as it is here (35 degrees).  If so, well done.  I’m away with Boyfriend and his family in a beautiful hotel in the Coral Bay area, near Paphos of Southern Cyprus, and it is just gorgeous.  I’ve had a spa treatment, done a Pilates class, eaten caviar and drunk champagne.  Enough said.

I haven’t been on a proper beach holiday in a good couple of years, since Boyfriend and I headed to Turkey in 2011.  I’ve of course, worn swimwear whilst travelling, but I didn’t really care the same way about misshapen swimsuits and mismatching bikinis.  I think there’s just something about travelling and living out of a backpack that means you let yourself go.  But on holiday?  Everyone wants to look and feel their best, and rightly so!    Thus, a couple of weeks ago, it was necessary to pop to Westfield at Shepherd’s Bush to purchase a few key items.  After three hours trawling the shops, and an hour in a Debenhams cubicle I finally found some beautiful pieces, that I feel really suit me and my body shape, and I thought I’d share.  Here’s what I’m wearing this holiday:

Gorgeous Bikini

This bikini is from the ‘Gorgeous’ range at Debenhams.   I showed Boyfriend and he instantly called me Wilma, from the Flintstones, but no matter!  I like it anyway.  I think the leopard print pattern is poolside daring which I love, but is given a ‘glam’ factor by the gold clasps.  I also love that the bikini top gives sufficent boob support and that the bottoms come up a bit higher.  This is a great bikini for swimming lengths or playing volleyball.

Floozie Swimsuit

This bikini is from the ‘Floozie’ by Frost French range at Debenhams – a fast growing favourite brand of mine!  I absolutely love this swimsuit, first and foremost because it’s so comfortable.  It’s also incredibly flattering, for any bodyshape.  The fifties style hipster peplum covers a multitude of sins and the colour and pattern is so eyecatching by the pool.

Floozie Bikini Top

Floozie Bikini Bottoms

The second bikini is again from the ‘Floozie’ by Frost French range at Debenhams.  This is more of a sunbathey bikini as opposed to a watersports bikini.  The strap detaches for even tanlines and the skirt style bottoms add protection for the tops of the legs (where I seem to burn so badly!).  This fifties style bikini is another flattering item for my curvy shape, and another comfy one too!

Are you having any holidays this summer?  What items are you wearing?  Take care!

(N.B. All items can be found on the Debenhams website – this is NOT a sponsored post)

What Happened In June

Now, I know June isn’t officially over, but as of tomorrow, yes, TOMORROW, I am departing to Thailand for a month!  So here’s what I’ve been up to.

1)  Cornwall!  As I blogged about, road trip with the boyfriend for sun, sea, sand and surfing.

2)  As exams ended at Uni, the nights out began!  Here’s a rare official snap of us (we never normally go to places nice enough to have an in house photographer) at a place called Orange Rooms in Southampton.  I’m on the right wearing an Orange Bodycon Dress from Topshop.

3)  More nights out!  But this was actually our last ever night out as a house, wah!  I’ve had such an amazing year living there and will genuinely miss everyone so much.  I’m bottom right wearing top – Topshop and shorts – Urban Outfitters.

4)  Some more cheeky nail art.  I couldn’t decide which colour, so I went for both!

5)  Ah, Wedding Season.  I’ve been to two weddings in the last two weeks and this has been my outfit for both of them (give me a break, completely different ends of the country, completely different sets of people and I AM a poor student on a budget!).  The dress is Miss Selfridge and the heels are New Look.

6)  Here’s a family snap from my cousin’s Wedding in Carlisle on Saturday.  This is more or less everyone from my Dad’s side of the family, love this picture.

7)  A picture from the Wedding the week before, they had a photo booth!  Best idea.

8)  The morning after my cousin’s Wedding.  We found half the buffet in our bedroom!

Anyway, I’ll try and blog again before we fly off but if not, love and leave!

No Regrets, Just Cornish Love

So last week boyfriend and I roadtripped to Cornwall for just under a week.  It was absolutely beautiful.  After what was basically a solid month of beer and BBQ, I really needed to get out of the city and feel some fresh sea air.  Armed with N-Dubz Greatest Hits (what more do you need?!) we hit the road and didn’t look back.  Lush.  Snaps and stories.

We stopped over in Bournemouth for the night just to break up the journey a bit.  I hadn’t been for years and boyfriend had never so it was lovely.  We didn’t have very long there but lastminute.com did us incredibly well with a good hotel deal, right on the sea front.  The first picture shows our backpacks for Thailand that we trial runned on this trip.  I coped surprisingly well!  And Noel Edmunds agrees.  We also ate in Harry Ramsden’s!  Not the overpriced restaurant with the gorgeous views, the very well priced cafe section with equally gorgeous views.  Haddock and smoked cheese fishcake ftw.  And beautiful beach huts!  Boyfriend got so angry at me strolling up and down snapping these!  I’ve decided that if I had one, it would be the purple one.

After Bournemouth, we drove the 3/4 hours to Newquay where we spent two nights in a B and B.  And whilst we were there, we had a surf lesson!  Hilarious.  I’ve surfed before, but not for years as had boyfriend but we had a private lesson and at the end we were standing up, so we did very well.  We had a great time going in the numerous pubs and arcades (see pool and dance machine), drinking wine and eating Indian food on the beach (so odd!)  FYI, dance machine/wine outfit:  Sunglasses – Urban Outfitters     Top – Primark     Shorts – Urban Outfitters     Necklace – Amsterdam

And here’s some snaps of some beautiful beaches in both Newquay and Polzeath :)  Gorgeous.

The next week is pretty hectic for me.  A week tomorrow boyfriend and I head off for our month in Thailand so LOTS to do!  Blog soon :)

Colourblind Reflection

If you’re reading this, stop.  Wait until the weather gets rubbish again and read it then.  I’m only writing this because I’m burning up in the delicious weather.  It’s been absolutely beautiful.  I’ve finished all my exams and have nothing to do except drink cider and sit in the sun all day.  So if you’re reading this, stop, go outside and read a book and get some sun on your face, and read it later when the sun goes down and the day is done.

I’ve been in a bikini the last few days, and as much as I love you all, won’t subject you to pictures of that!  Here’s what I wore a few days ago for afternoon tea with boyfriend’s Aunt and Uncle.  I got ready VERY quickly and as the title suggests, on reflection I was perhaps slightly colourblind in deciding what to wear!  But here it is anyway:

Cardigan – Urban Outfitters     Top – Asos     Jeans – TK Maxx     Shoes-New Look

A close up of my jeans and shoes.  I absolutely love these jeans.  SO comfy and different from standard skinnies.  And my new shoes!  These are actually heeled wedges but you can’t really see from this angle.  I’ve bought them for the two weddings I’ve got coming up over the next two weeks so have been wearing them out and about just to break them in.

A close up of my top half.

A close up of my face.  It’s only in this picture I’ve seen how much my purple dip dye has washed out, boo!  I’m wearing MAC foundation, Rimmel blusher, NO7 nude lipstick and MAC mascara.

Now get out in that sun!
