Home Alone – Kevin, The Fashion Icon

I had a pretty chilled Sunday afternoon.  I watched Home Alone, burnt my new Yankee Candle and wrote all my Christmas cards with a cuppa and a mince pie.  Jubbly.  It was only after I got thinking how freaking cool the character Kevin is in Home Alone!  I mean, alone all by himself, no crazy family .. every kid’s dream come true to have free reign over the house!  Not just that though, his outfits.  That kid has style!  See what I mean?

SS/13 Lust List

Hello all!  Gosh, wasn’t the weather gorgeous today?  I found myself with a spring in my step needing my sunglasses.  It really got me in the mood for Spring and all the beautiful new bits and pieces that will grace the shelves of the top shops.  After my Mother and I’s jaunt around Harrods a couple of weeks ago, I really am having champagne dreams on a beer budget.  But it doesn’t matter!  The girl can dream :)  And here’s what I’m dreaming of ..!

SS LL1) Coast Amiana Maxi Skirt, Mole (from John Lewis) – £160

2)  M Missoni Bow Embellished Fine Knit Dress (from Harvey Nichols) – £399

3)  Chloe Floral Print Top (from Harrods) – £550

4)  Delhi Paisley Wool Stole (from East) – £50

5)  Legacy D Leather Tassel Mocassin (from Dune) – £59

6)  Light Denim Cassie Ripped Boyfriend Jeans (from River Island) – £45

The items I’ve picked are VERY much ‘Day’ items.  Things I could just pop on, walk to Uni in, have a lecture, cheeky pub lunch perhaps then hit the library.  Item 1 I put in small because I’m not completely sure about it.  I love wearing skirts and dresses, with tights in the Winter then providing my legs look alright, baring brave in Spring/Summer!  I looked around quite a few websites compiling this list, and couldn’t find a single skirt (for my body shape) I liked the look of!  Other than this, I do like the colour transition and the hippy floaty feel.

I absolutely LOVE Item 2, just beautiful.  Item 3 is gorgeous too, would look great with basically any plain bottoms.  Item 4 I love because it’s not too out of my price range.  This is the kind of item I might splash out on if I needed a treat, beautiful, goes with anything and long lasting.  I remember I used to have some mocassins like this way back when as school shoes, and I loved them!  I’ve looked for some since and haven’t been able to find any, so was very chuffed when I stumbled upon these.  They are so comfy, and again, go with anything.  And a good pair of jeans for a good new season.  Can’t go wrong.

What’s on your SS13 lust list?  Bella x

Party Life: Fashion

So, I think I intended to tell you about Southampton night life, but I’m going to leave that for the Southampton specific post.  Here’s some of my party life fashion moments.   I don’t know HOW many times you have seen this outfit, but this is seriously how fantastically versatile it is!  Top from Topshop, Culottes from Urban Outfitters – bish bash bosh!  This is a pretty standard summer clubbing outfit for me.  Something that doesn’t show too much leg, but that doesn’t need tights and will show off my waist.  FYI this was taken in Jesters, which I’m sure you will hear more about in the Southampton post.   So you can only see half this outfit, but it’s still a goodun.  The statement necklace is from East and the top is actually a full on body corset that I needed for dance, from Florence and Fred.  The high waisted shorts are TK Maxx.  Every single outfit I wear clubbing is with flats.  I would love to be able to wear heels, but I just can’t.  How can I do the worm in heels eh?!  Ah, a heels shot!  However, I did only wear the heels for pre-drinking to get me in the mood, then it was straight into flats before heading out the door.  The boob tube and the heels are New Look and the high waisted shorts are River Island.  High waisted shorts are pretty much a clubbing staple for me.  They’re comfortable, suck in your tum and mean you can do the worm without flashing your panties.  Win.

A slightly more official looking photo.  This was for a Dinner Dance for my Performing Arts Society at Uni.  The dress was a fiver in TK Maxx, the heels (I sat down ALL night, hurrah!) are Schuh and the blazer was borrowed from my housemate.  Boyfriend wears .. Topman.

Karaoke buzz!  This was for a night out in Carlisle which was just great fun.  The top is TK Maxx and the high waisted shorts (seeing a pattern here?!) are Topshop.

So there’s a quick round up of Party Life fashion – stay tuned to hear more about Soton nightlife!

Thai Wishlist

For those of you who don’t know .. I’m going to Thailand!  Thailand for a whole freaking month with the boyfriend, backpacking and dissertation researching.  And I am so excited.  I’ve always been on holidays, but I’ve never really done the whole travel thing.  But hello Uni, perfect time right?  So here is my wishlist.  Please someone!

1)  Gorgeous playsuit.  As you all know I am an absolute magpie when it comes to anything colourful, and this playsuit has really light material so will be great in the backpack.  Perfect for throwing on over a bikini or with sandals for all those Hangover style nights out in Bangkok!

2)  Most amazing shirt.  I ummed and ahhed because it’s denim but I thought what the hey, it can get a bit cool in the evenings and this thrown over a lacy body will warm me up.  And make me look super cool.

3)  Just a basic floral hair clip really.  I’m packing absolutely minimalist in terms of hair and beauty so I thought this would be cute to spice up those evenings.  I’m fine with my standard holiday quiffs, but this will add a little pop with a plait.

4)  Make up.  I’m not gonna take anything.  Other than this of course.  Which will be a weird experience when clubbing is involved.  I toyed with the idea of tinted moisturizer and mascara but then thought my holiday skin is actually okay!  Out of everything here, I might actually invest in a couple of these, really bright colours for evenings and all that nightlife.

5)  Now these shorts are cut off levis.  Which SOB, I don’t think they make for someone with as large hips as myself, but oh well.  A girl can dream.  And LOVE the tassles.

Bring.  It.  On.
