2013 – An AMAZING Year.

It comes to that time of year again of reflection, reflecting about the past 12 months and what you’ve achieved, whether it’s been a good year, a great year, or whether January 1st just can’t come quick enough.  I did a similar post this time last year (https://bellasbits.wordpress.com/2012/12/31/gonna-party-like-its-2012/), I do just find it so amazing seeing how far you come.  It’s only when you really sit and think about it, that you realise it.  Here’s what I’ve done this year:

  • Had a lovely getaway to Portsmouth to celebrate V Day.
  • Partook in the ‘Pure Dance’ dance show in front of hundreds of people with my university street dance competition team.

  • Performed with the church Gospel Choir in a Christmas carol concert.

To Do:

  • Celebrate Christmas with a wonderful few days away in the Isle of Man.

Wow, when you write it all down like that, it really does seem like a lot.  Whilst Bella’s Bits is a place for me to chat to you all about clothes and make-up, it’s also a place where I share some of the bigger, more important things in my life, like my take on political or ethical issues, for example.  It’s also my little diary like slice of the internet where I can think about what I’ve achieved, and looking at 2013, I’m proud!  I really have done so much this year and am so proud and happy with what I’ve achieved.  I feel so blessed with the life and opportunities I’ve been given.  You know, I can’t really do it justice here, there aren’t any words!

I would really encourage you to do as I have, go through your year, and really think about what you’ve achieved.  Think about your friends, your dreams, your family, your hopes, your travels, anything that inspires you to wake up the next day and keep going.

Fall in love with life in 2014, I dare you.

(FYI – I’m taking a bloggy break over the holidays, so have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and I’ll see you in 2014.  Toodaloo!)

Glamping

At the weekend, I went glamping.  Or rather, hashtag glamping as I feel it should be said.  Nestled deep in the depths of the Sussex countryside (we didn’t even find out the location until we booked) we went to EcoCampUK (http://www.ecocampuk.co.uk/), a completely off grid camspide where all we had to bring was food and bedding.  As a keen camper (every year since I was 9) this was an absolute walk in the park for me but for boyfriend, who hasn’t camped since Beavers, we decided on a glamping holiday to ease him into the outdoor lifestyle.

It was absolutely beautiful.  On the first night, giddy on love, laughter and too much wine we put our fire out and scuttled into the tent to play scrabble.  It was only hazily around 5am where I heard the pounding of rain on our bell tent I realised we had left ALL our firewood outside in the pouring rain.  The ultimate facepalm moment.  Undeterred, we just about managed to make a fire using the wood from the bottom of the bag and my ‘Ideal Home’ magazine (sob, hick, sob), but shortly after, packed it in and went to the pub.

We went for long country walks, read that book I’ve been meaning to for so long, had a digital detox, drank wine, mastered the game Triominos (it’s amazing!) and spent pure, quality time together as a couple where our only company was the distant mooing of cows (oh, and woodmice come sundown).  On our last night we had a lazy stroll around the adjacent farmyard field, looking up at the stars.  It always strikes me how incredibly bright, light, powerful and beautiful they are away from the hustle and bustle of the city suburbs.  My weekend was peaceful, contemplative and I’m home feeling utterly refreshed.

Oh, Hey

Howdy.  How are you all?  Sorry for my absence.  It’s 2 weeks until I start at my MA at University and I am well and truly making the most of the last of my holidays until September 2014.  I’ve been seeing a lot of friends and family, sightseeing, hanging out and just mentally preparing to start 9-5 again.

I had a beautiful weekend in the Isle of Man.  I forget how peaceful and beautiful it is there.  When you wake up in the morning, you can’t hear car alarms, the rumbling of trains and early morning market traders, you hear .. well, nothing.  I love living urban, I do.  I’m very cosmopolitan by nature and I get a bit queasy if I don’t see concrete and a skyscraper every day.  I’m just a city girl.  But I do love the countryside, in short lengths of time!

Yesterday, I also started back at the Street Dance school I attended for 7 years before I headed off to University.  It was absolutely fantastic.  There were some old faces and new faces, classic moves and mod moves.  I’m so excited to get really stuck in and see what the new term brings.

Gosh, this has been the first time I have just sat down and wrote, in a really long time!  I’m going glamping (yes, glamping!) this weekend so I will try and get some photos there to post for you all.  Today, I’m about to experience the legend that is Costco!  I intend to purchase bottled water, tuna and wine.  Priorities!

Anyway, it’s been lovely to stop by.  In the mean time, if you fancy exploring my random ramblings and ways of life, you can follow:
