August Verbs

I must admit, I’m utterly baffled as to how we’ve ended up at the end of August.  This month has been amazing, I’ve finished #masterslife and had a few beautiful weeks off before starting full time life shortly.  It’s been a goodun.  Here’s what’s happened:

Watching:  The Inbetweeners

These Boys

These Boys

With the dawn of the new Inbetweeners film (which apparently I won’t find that amusing seeing as I ‘did’ Australia last year) I felt it was necessary to begin the whole series from scratch.  I originally watched the first film after a year’s gap from the series and couldn’t see the humour.  I’m hoping recapping will make the newest movie even better when I get round to cinematic viewing.

Reading:  Bridget Jones, Mad About The Boy – Helen Fielding

Grated cheese, anyone?

Grated cheese, anyone?

The latest Bridget Jones book!  I still haven’t finished so pretty please don’t divulge any necessary information from the story line, but I have to say I’m loving it.  Only half way through I’ve already laughed, already cried, and already drawn a frightening amount of similarities between myself and Jonesy all these years on (bags of grated cheese anyone?!).  A must read.

Listening To: B.O.B

Style: "normal start"

Another Gossip Girl find I’m afraid (guilty!).  I previously only knew B.O.B from ‘that song with the one from Paramore’ but I’ve been trawling Spotify and I have to say I’m rather impressed.  His tunes make great kitchen choreo too.

Wearing on my Body: Denim Jacket

It looks a bit like this.

It looks a bit like this.

With this BEAUTIFUL August weather we’ve been having, the sheared denim jacket has just had to make an appearance.  A comfy classic.

Wearing on my Face:  Nothing

I'll go with that.

I’ll go with that.

Sorry to be boring, yet again!  I have however been testing out my everyday work make-up face and think I’ve pretty much got the look down, so this subsection might be more exciting next month!

Eating: Out

Nom

Nom

This month has seen countless pub trips, restaurant stops, BBQs, family friend buffets and house parties.  My social life has been off the chain this month (golly) which has meant I’ve barely cooked!  Next month, I’m looking forward to lighting candles and having longer nights in with some autumnal plate of yumminess I’ve conjured.

Drinking: Bubbles

I think this goes hand in hand with all the social events I’ve been a part of this month – dahling.

What have you been up to this August?

That Wee Trip to Westfield

Last post, I mentioned having a cheeky trip to Westfield to spend my birthday moolah.  Here’s a sneaky peek of my purchases:

H and M

These are my H and M beauties (or Hemmies, as it is affectionately known).  I’m a big fan of high waisted anything and this simple black body covers my arms and ensures I have no annoying t-shirt bits to tuck in.  The donut and the flowers were last minute impromptu till purchases, one of which I love, one of which I regret.  I love the flowers pins, they look great in a clipped back side parting do or even on a lapel.  On reflection, I don’t have quite enough hair for the XL donut .. my baby one will have to do!

Topshop

Every girl should own a LDD.  A little denim dress.  I have three.  Regular readers may remember my trusty denim pinafore, both summer and winter worthy, which is what makes them so versatile.  It got to the point where I was easily wearing it 3 days out of 7 and just really needed a couple more!  The one on the left is a skater style denim dress that I recently wore with a cutesy blouse underneath whereas the one of the right is a bit more bodycon, and suitable for a night out.  Either way, they’re both lovely!  The socks were to go with my Vans, with the cute frilly bits peeking over the edge (reminding me of primary school!).  And the gold geometric necklace was £2.50 – reason enough!

Sneaky peek complete – laters!

BDG Bad Boys

Holla!  So it was about 5 years ago I first met the trusty jean brand BDG (on sale at Urban Outfitters) in the form of a ‘Slim Boyriend’ look.  Since then, they’ve been ripped to shreds, but still emerge from my wardrobe when I need a chilled, laid back look for the day.  In January, in my obligatory Oxford Street Urban Outfitters sale haul, I picked up these lovelies, which I teamed up with this outfit to head to my Dissertation hand in day at Uni:

ImageCardigan – John Lewis

T Shirt – Gap

Necklace – Amsterdam Market

Jeans – BDG

Boots – New York

Black, wet, leather sort of look? Uh, how boring!  But NO.  Check this out ..

ImageAha!  And then at the back they are blue denim!  ‘What an absolute mind****!’ my housemate shrilly shrieked as I paraded up and down the corridor.  You know when you just find the perfect pair of jeans?  The perfect length, fit and size, perfect for you?  I think these might just be them.  They’re definitely my ‘good jeans’ of the moment, wearing them out for dinner, on a pub evening, maybe to a night club. In love.

Do you have a favourite pair of jeans?

(N.B.  I apologise for the background!  This was taken in the alleyway next to my flat.  Just ignore the beaten up TV, STILL there from our Halloween house party!  Student living, eh?!)

Asos Haul – Cheeky Boom Boom!

Has anyone else noticed that Jeremy Kyle isn’t sponsored by ‘Cheeky Boom Boom’ anymore?!  No?  Just me?  Okay ..

So I got paid today and as I’ve been working really hard at Uni recently, I thought it was about time I treated myself with some good old fashioned online shopping (complete with 25% Student Discount, result!).  When the items arrive, I might mess about showing you me wearing/styling them, but we’ll have to see haha!  Here’s what I bought:

A gorgeous dungaree dress!  Depending on the length, it might even be possible for me to wear this to work.  When I checked back two hours after purchase to get the pictures for my blog, it had sold out!  So sorry kids, won’t be able to steal my style on this one ;)

A collar!  I’ve been on the hunt for one of these for a while.  At Brick Lane the other day they were going for £15 so I was quite chuffed to find this one for £10.  It’s the kind of thing that would be good for a night out, or spruce up a plain tee for work.

I think this boob tube had a low sale price because of ridiculously how out of season it is, and I couldn’t resist!  Again, this is a bit more of a going out affair and I think it would look awesome with some high waisted trousers.

Okay, don’t laugh, but these are maternity jeans.  I said, don’t laugh!  I’ve recently found that maternity wear is one of the most comfortable ways to look stylish without resorting to tracksuits.  Take these jeans for example, they are skinny denim with a slight stretch on the leg, with an elasticated waist .. brilliant!  Instant comfort minus the morning sickness!

So regarding I don’t send anything back, I’ll blog with how the items look in real life, not on stunning models with a pure white background (although I am slightly striving for the photography haha!).  Take care!
